What We Believe
We believe each child's day has an individual rhythm, as well as a predictable flow.
To support this balance, we provide a warm, nurturing setting that encourages children to learn though hands-on experiential activities.
Mercy Child Care Center is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, consistent, challenging and holistic environment for young children. Our environments provide emotional and social support with clearly defined cognitive learning objectives. We also offer a variety of multicultural experiences that uphold the integrity of each child's family. We seek diversity among the children and families participating in the program that are consistent with the policies of Catholic Healthcare West and Mercy Hospitals of Bakersfield.
Our Staff
Our staff is committed to on-going teacher training, which keeps them current with the complex and changing needs of children. blending creative with educational skills, they provide children with a full range of enriching experiences.
We offer a two, three and five full day program to meet the special needs of our children in a safe and nurturing environment.
Parent Friendly
At Mercy Child Care Center, parents are special too. We welcome you anytime and encourage you to feel free to watch your children at play, visit with them or join them at mealtime. Parent interest and participation is an important part of our program and helps to insure that we provide the best possible care for each individual child.
Adult to Child Ratios
Mercy Child Care Center is regulated by the State of California, Department of
Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division and follows their recommendations for adult to child rations.
Infants
(six weeks - two years)
- 1 adult to 4 children
Toddlers
(two years - three years)
- 1 adult to 8 children
Preschool
(three years - four years)
- 1 adult to 12 children
Pre-K
(four years - five years)
- 1 adult to 12 children
How Do I Apply?
Eligibility:
• Your child is six weeks or older
• Priority is given to employees of Mercy and Memorial Hospitals. Discounts are available to regular part-time and full-time employees.
• Admissions policy consistent with Title 22 Regulations 101419
• Submit waitlist form, which assumes your interest but does not guarantee a space will be available on a desired date
• Take a tour of the facility, giving you a chance to meet the staff and see the facility
