Meet Our Patients
Elias
Playing with his young children is something every father loves to do. But every time Elias heard "Come on Daddy, play with us" it broke his heart. He couldn't keep up with his three young children who desperately wanted him to run, jump and play ball with them. On the day Elias took his children to an amusement park and couldn't ride the roller coaster with them because he didn't fit in the seat, he decided it was time to make a change.
Elias heard about the Weight-Loss Surgery program at Mercy Hospitals and after researching the program chose to have gastric bypass surgery. In less than one year, Elias has lost 120 pounds and is playing ball and bike riding with his children. Now Elias is asking his kids to go out and play with him! Elias is happy he made the choice to have gastric bypass surgery and says, "I feel like I got another chance at life."

Penny
Did you ever see someone pinch a babies plump cheeks and say, "Oh, she's so cute and chubby!" Well, baby fat may be cute on an infant, but not when it lingers into childhood, teen years and even adulthood. Just ask Penny who not only suffered the physical pain of obesity, but the emotional pain as well.
Penny made the decision to attend a Mercy Hospital Weight-Loss Surgery seminar and hasn't looked back since. After a little more than a year, the 125 pounds she's lost isn't the only weight that has been lifted. Penny says, "I can honestly say that I feel like I'm living life now instead of struggling through it."
