Follow Up Care After Bariatric Surgery

One of the key reasons patients at Mercy Hospitals successfully achieve their weight-loss goals is the comprehensive follow-up program.

After your surgery, we strongly recommend attending your two-week, six-week, three-month, and annual follow-up visits. This allows our medical team a personal visit with you, to answer any questions you may have. Often, it's not easy to distinguish between a problem and an expected, postoperative symptom. As always, it's best not to ignore discomfort - contact the Bariatrics Coordinator or your Surgeon right away if you have a question or concern.

You'll receive ongoing medical examinations from your surgeon and ongoing education from your dietician. You'll get the care you need at your stage of progress and for your unique needs as an individual.

Even after your surgery, you're still treated like family. We want to do everything we can to surround you with caring and support as you go on with your new life. Follow-up visits are an expected part of our comprehensive program.
